Manuscripts - instructions for authorsSubmission of manuscriptsAuthors are requested to deliver electronic versions of their manuscripts (4-6 final journal pages) to the Guests Editors Tadeusz Lucinski or Stanislaw Lipinski till 19 April 2007 by email and then two hard copies during registration for the MAG-EL-MAT Members Meeting in Bedlewo. Each paper should be accompanied by a complete set of illustrations of good quality, on separate pages. Microsoft Word 95 or its later versions (IBM-PC format, DOC or RTF files) should be used whereas the preferred formats for the graph files are CDR, EPS, TIFF (scanning resolution at least 300 dpi) or XLS. The graph files must not be embedded in the text. Submission of a manuscript to Materials Science implies that it is not considered for publication elsewhere, and the author(s) have a necessary authorization to publish the material contained in the paper. After the manuscript has been accepted for publication, the authors will be requested to send a hard copy of the final version accompanied by an electronic version of their manuscript (on a floppy disk or by E-mail) of the above specifications. Please make sure that the text and illustrations in the electronic version match exactly the hard copy. The final version of the manuscript should also be accompanied by a copyright transfer form, filled out and signed by one of the authors on behalf of all authors, or by an authorized person. The forms are available on the Internet page of the journal, or they can be mailed or e-mailed on request. Organisation of the manuscriptThe hard copy of the manuscript being submitted should be printed on (preferably) A4 or letter size sheets, double spaced with ample margins throughout, using a high-quality printer. All pages of the manuscript should be numbered consecutively, including references, figure captions and tables. The first page should be organised as follows:
Title of the paper
John A. White(a), T. James Brown(b),# and Margaret Green(b),* (a)Affiliation 1 (b)Affiliation 2 E-mail (only the corresponding author) Abstract An abstract of no more than 200 words. Keywords 3 to 5 keywords, separated by semicolons. Footnote(s) --------------------------------------- * Corresponding author # (e.g.: On leave from...; Present address ...; etc.) Headings, Sub-headingsThese should be placed in the main text as appropriate. The authors are encouraged to conform to a standard sequence of sections (e.g., Introduction; Experimental; Results; Discussion; Conclusions; etc.) References
In the main text, references should be numbered consecutively by Arabic numerals in square brackets (e.g., [1]; [3,4]; [7-11]). The list of references should follow the main text and should have the following format:
Journal abbreviations should be in accordance with the standards of Chemical Abstracts. EquationsAll equations should be typewritten. Equations referred to in the text should be numbered consecutively at the right hand margin with arabic numerals in parentheses. Figures and GraphsAll figures should be numbered with Arabic numerals, have descriptive captions, and be mentioned in the text. An approximate position for each figure should be indicated in the text. The list of figure captions should be typed on a separate sheet. All figures submitted, including chemical schemes, must be of a high standard for direct reproduction. Figures should be preferably computer-generated prints of high quality; alternatively, they can be prepared in black Indian ink on drawing or tracing paper. The computer-generated figures should be prepared at their final size so that no reduction is required, otherwise the size of drawings should allow for a double reduction. Letters and symbols should be drawn so that the smallest ones will be no less then 2 mm high after reduction. Please note: The width of a figure after reduction must not exceed 12 cm. TablesTables should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals. Each table should be given a descriptive caption. If the tables are grouped at the end of the main text, then an approximate position of each table should be indicated in the text. The tables should be planned so as their final widths do not exceed 13 cm; full-page tables (13.5 cm x 19 cm) will be accepted only exceptionally.
