Activity
- maintenance of access and continuous Internet services availability to the local computer network users,
- administration of computers and network equipment performing the services mentioned above, planning the future development and preparing grant applications, administration, development and improvement of the local computer network at the Institute,
- administration of the local computational resources, maintenance and servicing the hardware and software of the workstations,
- computer hardware purchasing assistance, basic software purchasing and license housekeeping,
- general assistance to the users in the Institute in the field of computer application.
Computer network
The local computer network is based on the gigabit Ethernet backbone and Fast Ethernet switches (3COM) with gigabit uplink. The services available to the network users are the following:- e-mail with anti-virus and anti-SPAM checking, www accessible, user accounts and disk space on disk matrix server,
- www server including personal pages capabilities and www caching server, local FTP.
- The gateway operates on link provided by the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center.
- Software packages available in the MS Windows environment are Mathematica and Origin.
