Excursions - Thursday, June 25, 2026

As part of the PM’26 conference programme, we have prepared three excursions for participants to choose from. Each registered participant is invited to join one of the following options: a visit to the Enigma Cipher Centre, a tour of the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC), or a guided walk through Poznań’s Old Market Square and the Imperial District. You can read a short description about each excursion below.

Please note that participation in the Enigma Cipher Centre and PSNC visits is limited to 75 participants each. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis via the conference survey sent by email.

Enigma Cipher Center:

The Enigma Cipher Centre is a unique and immersive museum experience dedicated to the history of cryptography and the breaking of the Enigma code during the Second World War. Through an innovative multimedia exhibition, visitors are first introduced to the fascinating world of ciphers and encryption, before exploring interactive displays and solving cryptographic challenges themselves. The visit combines history, technology, and mystery, offering an engaging journey into the events that helped shape the modern digital world.

We invite you to an exclusive visit at the PSNC – a place where data gains real power, serving as the digital heart of the region. During our journey, you will closely explore three extraordinary technological realms.

Join us to see the true workshop of modern science, where machines are actively designing life-saving drugs and simulating climate change. The future is not a distant concept; it is happening right here!

 

Poznań - Old Market Square:

From the Imperial District to the Old Market Square
Discover Poznań through its stories, architecture, and lively atmosphere on this engaging guided walk through the city's most iconic areas. The Imperial District impresses with its grand buildings and impressive design, including the opera house and the striking Imperial Castle - the youngest castle in Europe, with a surprisingly rich history. As you continue, the city feels more relaxed and full of everyday life. Freedom Square is a place where locals meet and events take place, surrounded by landmarks such as the Raczyński Library and the famous Bazar Hotel. The walk gradually leads into the Old Town, where the streets become more colourful and full of energy. It ends at the Old Market Square - the vibrant heart of Poznań, with beautiful townhouses and the iconic Renaissance Town Hall. This walk offers a great introduction to the city - its past, atmosphere, and unique character.
